Safe Slumber: Reducing the risk of SIDS in the Child Care Setting is now on KS-TRAIN, a
web-based self-study
online training resource. This 1.5 hour course addresses definitions and statistics of SIDS
and describes steps to reduce infant death in the child care setting. This course is designed primarily for child care
providers, but all professionals working with infants are encouraged to enroll.

The Child Care Provider Health and Safety Fund is a collaboration between Child Care Providers Together/American
Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (CCPT/AFSCME), the Kansas Department of Health and
Environment and the Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services. The Professional Development Days for child
care personnel will provide relevant professional development and training opportunities approved by KDHE for
focus on:  
•   Certification in Pediatric (Infant/Child) CPR and First Aid (Core training) •   Child Development
•   SIDS-Safe Sleep (Core training), •   Early Learning
•   Child Care Regulations/Compliance •   Child Abuse and Neglect

The SIDS Network of Kansas will provide the “SIDS and Safe Sleep” training for each of the following Professional
Development Days. The SIDS Safe Sleep training has been approved for 2 hours of continuing education through
KDHE.
